Palmyra Panther Cubs Childcare Director Job Description

The Daycare Director is a 185 day position that is responsible for the overall management and operation of the staff childcare program serving children ages 6 weeks through preschool. The Director provides leadership to ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children while maintaining compliance with all applicable licensing, health, and safety requirements.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the childcare program.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate daycare staff.
• Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and child-to-staff ratios.
• Maintain accurate records for children, including enrollment, attendance, health information, and required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations, health standards, and safety protocols.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures that support high-quality childcare services.
• Monitor classrooms and programming to ensure developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's development, needs, and program updates.
• Manage program budgets, purchasing, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate staff professional development and required training.
• Conduct emergency preparedness planning and ensure staff are trained in safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
• Collaborate with school administration to support the goals and mission of the childcare program.
• Address parent concerns, staff issues, and operational challenges in a professional and timely manner.

Qualifications:

• Experience in early childhood education, childcare management, or a related field.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of child development, licensing regulations, and childcare best practices.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional relationships with families and staff.
• Current certifications and training as required by state licensing regulations.
