The Palmyra R-1 School District is seeking a part-time middle school/high school vocal music teacher. This teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering a comprehensive vocal music program for students in grades 7–12.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an engaging vocal music curriculum aligned with Missouri Learning Standards for Fine Arts.
- Teach a middle school and high school vocal music course, including choir and general vocal instruction as assigned.
- Prepare students for school and community performances, concerts, and special events.
- Instruct students in vocal technique, music literacy, performance skills, and proper rehearsal etiquette.
- Foster student appreciation for music and encourage participation in school music programs.
- Maintain appropriate classroom management and establish a safe, respectful learning environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress and communicate effectively with students and parents regarding achievement and expectations.
- Collaborate with administration, staff, and community members to support district goals and student success.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance.
- Assist with scheduling and organization of performances, rehearsals, and related music activities.
- Supervise students during instructional activities and performances.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate appropriate for Vocal Music/K–12 Music.
- Strong knowledge of vocal pedagogy, music theory, and performance practices.
- Ability to work effectively with middle school and high school students.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate positively with staff, students, parents, and community members.
